A local resident is desperate to have her dog back and is offering a reward in hopes that whoever stole the dog out of her car will take the money, no questions asked.
Ajax, an all-black Shepherd, with a small white marking on his chest, was stolen between 6:30 and 7:15 p.m. Wednesday out of Beacon resident Jill Steeley's SUV while she was inside the Golden Corral in Poughkeepsie.
Very distraught, Steely is offering $3,300 to have Ajax, her best friend since she received him five years ago when he was a puppy.
"He's like a member of the family," she said crying. "He sleeps with me every night."
Ajax, who goes everywhere with Steeley, was on his heated blankets in the vehicle while he waited for her to finish dining. She discovered Ajax gone when she came outside.
The loveable Ajax was wearing his blue and green collar with his tags attached. He has an AKC Reunite microchip and requires allergy shots each week.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Poughkeepsie Police.
"I just want my dog back," she said. "No questions asked."
Jill Steeley can be reached at 845-656-5681 or via email at AjaxIsLost@Gmail.com.
